Frequently Asked Questions

Everything you need to know before your adventure

1

How do I book a tour?

You can book directly through our website by selecting your preferred tour and filling out the booking form. Alternatively, you can contact us via email at info@boontusafaris.com or call us at +254 793 999 601. Our team will guide you through the process.
2

What is the payment process?

A 30% deposit is required to confirm your booking. The balance is due 30 days before departure. For bookings made within 30 days of travel, full payment is required at the time of booking. We accept bank transfers, M-Pesa (for Kenyan residents), and major credit cards.
3

What is your cancellation policy?

Cancellations made more than 30 days before departure receive a full refund minus a 10% administrative fee. Between 15-30 days, a 50% refund applies. Between 7-14 days, 25% refund. Less than 7 days, no refund is available. All cancellation requests must be in writing.
4

Do I need travel insurance?

Yes, comprehensive travel insurance is mandatory for all our tours. It must cover medical expenses, trip cancellation, baggage loss, and emergency evacuation. We recommend obtaining insurance at the time of booking.
5

What should I pack for a safari?

We recommend neutral-colored clothing (khaki, beige, olive), a warm jacket for morning game drives, comfortable walking shoes, a hat, sunscreen, sunglasses, insect repellent, binoculars, a camera, and any personal medications. A detailed packing list is provided upon booking.
6

Is it safe to travel to Kenya and East Africa?

Yes, tourism in Kenya and East Africa is well-developed and safe. Our guides are experienced professionals who prioritize your safety. We monitor travel advisories and adjust itineraries as needed. Standard precautions apply as with any international travel.
7

What is the best time to visit?

The best time depends on what you want to see. The Great Migration peaks from July to October in the Maasai Mara. January to February offers excellent game viewing with dry weather. The shoulder seasons (June and November) offer good wildlife viewing with fewer crowds.
8

Do I need a visa?

Visa requirements depend on your nationality. Most visitors to Kenya require an eVisa, which can be obtained online before travel. We provide guidance on visa applications but recommend checking with the Kenyan embassy in your country for current requirements.
9

What vaccinations do I need?

Routine vaccinations should be up to date. Yellow fever vaccination is required for entry into Kenya (and most East African countries) if traveling from an endemic region. Malaria prophylaxis is recommended. Consult your healthcare provider at least 4-6 weeks before travel.
10

Can you accommodate dietary restrictions?

Yes, we can accommodate most dietary requirements including vegetarian, vegan, gluten-free, and halal. Please inform us of any dietary needs at the time of booking so we can make appropriate arrangements.
11

What is the difference between resident and non-resident pricing?

Resident pricing applies to Kenyan citizens and residents. Non-resident pricing applies to international visitors. This distinction is based on park fees and operational costs, which differ for residents and non-residents in Kenya.
12

How many people are in a group?

Group sizes vary by tour. Private tours are available for individuals or small groups. Scheduled group tours typically have between 4-12 participants. Maximum group sizes are specified on each tour page.
13

What type of accommodation is provided?

We offer a range of accommodation options from budget campsites to luxury lodges. Each tour page specifies the accommodation category. Options include tented camps, safari lodges, beach resorts, and boutique hotels.
14

Can I customize a tour package?
